This is jaybites – a small, home-based baking company operating in Sacramento CA, and licensed by Sacramento County EMD (Permit #SR0030375-A); specializing in bite-sized cookies, candies, and other baked goods. Though jaybites exclusively sells products in person within the Sacramento-area, we hope to expand distribution geographically as we steadily grow.

The idea for jaybites existed long before it’s inception. The dream began while owner, Jason Barrows, was in culinary school and continued to develop throughout his early restaurant career and during his travels.

Jason attended Culinary School at Seattle Central Community College graduating with a B.S. in Culinary Arts – Baking. After an apprenticeship in a small bakery cafe in Seattle, Jason moved onto a commercial, high volume operation working for Panera Bread Company. He started as an entry level baker and worked his way up to become the Baker Training Specialist for the Greater Puget Sound Region in Washington State where he was responsible for the oversight of the training program and each baker’s progress as well as quality control for the region. After 3 successful years, Jason took a break from his passion to pursue other career goals outside of the culinary world, but he was always baking in his free time and developed new recipes of his own.

After much encouragement from family and friends, Jason was ready to get back into the baking world, and worked to start his own business – enabling him to share his own talents and passion with others. With small business skills learned from his apprenticeship, large volume production from Panera, and general life skills from his current full-time job, Jason was ready to take the next step.

And it is here where the new story begins.
